Aiki is a Japanese martial art for self-defence when samurai was attacked in a castle without a sword. We use “ki” instead of force. We connect to our opponents by “ki” and use their force. The goal of our aiki is to take their force so that they cannot move. To achieve the goal, we practice to learn how to use our bodies—muscles, breath, parts of our bodies, posture e.t.c. until our bodies master it. We call our practice “Kata geiko”. Once you feel “ki”, you will enjoy aiki. You can enjoy aiki as long as you want in your life.
The goal of practice for one month is to feel “ki” and learn how affect our posture and breath to our techniques by practicing in sitting.
For two months to learn how to stand.
For three months to learn to “irimi”, one step forward.
